How a scan works

First, you tell us who you are.

BusinessA Denver coffee shop
Kind of businesscoffee shop
CityDenver

Then we ask what your customers ask.

What is the best coffee shop in Denver?
ChatGPT, through the OpenAI API with web searchDenver boasts a vibrant coffee scene with numerous exceptional cafés. Here are some top recommendations: 1. A Denver coffee shop 2. Coffee shop D (Example scan: business names hidden, answer shortened.)

Last, you get a score you can share.

AskRank share card: A Denver coffee shop scored 88 out of 100, named in 7 of 8 answers

A real scan of a Denver coffee shop, with business names hidden. Each block is one question; lit blocks are answers that named them, with their rank.

Two real scans

Questions people ask us

Is this really ChatGPT?

Every result says which it is. “Real ChatGPT” results come from OpenAI’s API with web search turned on, which can still differ from the ChatGPT app because the app adds memory and personal context. “ChatGPT-style” results come from our own live web search, read by Google’s Gemini. They show the same kind of answer, but they are not ChatGPT itself. We run a limited number of real ChatGPT scans each day; when they run out, scans switch to ChatGPT-style and the result says so.

What questions do you ask?

About eight questions built from your kind of business and city, written the way customers ask them: “What is the best coffee shop in Denver?”, “Who is the most trusted…?”, “Best value…”. The result page lists every question and what came back.

How is the score worked out?

Each answer that names you counts toward 100, weighted by where you appear: first place counts fully, second 80%, third 65%, lower 50%. An answer that doesn’t name you counts zero. The score is the average across all questions.

Why does ChatGPT name someone else?

It leans on the pages it reads: local guides, review sites, listicles and directories. Your result shows which sites came up most, so you know where to get listed, reviewed or corrected first.

Does a free scan cost anything?

No card and no signup. You get three free scans a day. Paid plans for weekly tracking are waitlist only for now.

Who can see my result?

Anyone with the link. Each result gets a random link that isn’t listed anywhere, so it’s only seen by the people you share it with.
